Since its inception 40 years ago, the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants have focused not only on serving East Tennessee, but making East Tennessee a better place to live. The Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants is proud to partner with established local programs that improve our community and to start new programs of our own whenever we identify a need.

Beginning in the 1970s, the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants have initiated, supported and participated in countless programs that improve the community for those who live and work here. That tradition continues today with programs that include:

American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

This is a Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants program during the month of October. In the past 3 years Copper Cellar has raised and donated over $70,000 for the American Cancer Society and provides funds to help local people battling breast cancer. We launched this program because more than half of the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants’ workforce is female – many who have first-hand experience with breast cancer. This program is near-and-dear to the hearts of the entire Copper Cellar Family.

The Knoxville Open

The Knoxville Open golf tournament takes place every August and the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants is a major sponsor and participant. Our involvement benefits the Empty Stocking Fund, which provided food for 10,000 needy people and toys for more than 3,000 needy children in East Tennessee during Christmas 2013.

For Veteran’s Day

For Veteran’s Day,  Calhoun’s serves all veterans (past and present) for free. We offer them a complete menu including our steak, ribs, chicken and fish. The Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants is grateful for those who serve our country every day, but wanted to show them in our own special way on Veteran’s Day.

Going Green

Going Green is not just a slogan at the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants, it’s how we have tried to conduct ourselves in everything we do since we first installed a heat recovery system in our original Copper Cellar location in 1981. More recently, we have installed Blink electric car chargers, smart thermostats, started using solar panels, and standardized on energy-efficient appliances, lighting and HVAC for our locations. In 2013, our solar panels alone generated nearly 100,000 kwh at each location and reduced our fossil fuel consumption (by nearly 300,000 lbs.) while reducing CO2 emissions.

We take pride in our involvement with the community. Because of our efforts, we are limited in our involvement with other charities. If you would like to submit a written donation request, please contact donations@coppercellar.com.
